Sita is not afraid to try designs out of the norm, as well as experimenting with brash, bold colours not normally used by other contemporary artists. Her passion for art has been present from a very young age, enrolling in adult craft classes when she was 9 years old, and completing her first oil painting on canvas at the age of 11.
She has a natural gift for artistic creativity. She has been creating designs from the age of 10 for her own clothes and her friends and families.
She has a great interest in a variety of different arts, such as painting landscapes, drawing portraits and hand made gift cards.
Having achieved an A* in her GCSE Art, she went on to gain an A grade in her A-level Art and Design.
This was followed by a year’s Foundation course (BTEC diploma) where she explored all the different types of art – from photography to 3-D design, and from fashion and textiles to fine art. This exposure to a variety of media really helped narrow down the varieties of art Sita got attracted to.
For her final major project, she chose to specialise in Fashion and Textiles, it was through experimenting with different media that she created her signature technique. Using fabric pastes on paper gave a different look to the conventional acrylic or oil paintings she had previously produced. Sita’s “Lily Collection” emphasises the use of this unusual method of drawing. She has used very bold colours which can be found from different lily flower groups – this formed the basis of her colour scheme / palette.
In the past three years Sita has had the opportunity to exhibit her work around the country. She has been commissioned to create customised artworks for both individual and corporate clients.
As part of her year out in Industry, she worked for a specialised embroidery design company where the main emphasis was unique hand embroidery. One of the several designs that she produced was purchased by fashion company, ‘Mango’, at Indigo (Textile Trade Show, Paris 2008).
To date she has worked for a fantastic array of design companies such as:
GEORGE (Asda) - London Karigar Embroideries - India Jack Jones Design - London
Amanda Kelly - London Diesel (Black Gold) - London Tom Cody Design - London
